Specialty Defense systems is a subsidiary of the Armor Holdings company. Armor is a leading provider of effective security solutions to the increasing level of security threats encountered by domestic and foreign law enforcement personnel, governmental agencies and multi-national corporations. Specialty Defense Systems is the home of the the M.O.L.L.E. back pack used in the US Military. The "MOLLE", MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment was introduced in 1997 but did not see widespread issue until after the September 11, 2001 attacks and was used by U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan and later in Iraq. Today, Specialty Defense Systems operations encompass approximately 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space with 6 locations, and a capacity for 700+ direct labor operators.
